Firstly, thank you so much for your time, whats been happening?

For the last three months I’ve been recovering from a broken heel that I receieved on a drunken night out. I’ve been drawing a whole lot and sadly had to go back to work to earn some money for rent.

For those who don’t know, can you tell us a bit about yourself?

I’m 33, going bald, I draw pictures and shout obsecenities in two bands, Special Move and A*M*B*U*S*H. I make art mainly for myself and when people pay me to design band shirts and cd stuff. I’m shit at Photoshop and Illustrator so its all hand rendered, as im sure you can tell.

How did you first find out you had a talent for art, at what point did you decide to persue it as a career?

I never really thought I was talented, its just been something I was always encouraged to do. My mum always used to tell me to “do something creative every day” and i try to. I just like drawing and seeing something coming to life without too many glaring mistakes. I only wish I could actually make a living from creating art but unfortunately I have to work in construction by day to pay the bills. i did go to college for a while but it was rubbish. I really dont want to draw apples thanks. Working for the man truely sucks, but I can’t draw things fast enough or have enough customers to make my living that way. Hopefully I can push myself harder and make the jump, but right now I need to pay my rent. And my phone bill.

What other artists are you into or influenced by?

I love all sort of art and artists. Theres amazing stuff everywhere and from all eras, but my favourate artist really is Francis Bacon. He was amazing and simply didn’t give a fuck what anyone thought. I’m into anything that comes from the heart and looks cool. I’m not so much into computer made art as I cant really relate to it.

You work with various mediums, acrylic, spray paint, texta, ink, water colours to name a few, do you prefer any medium in particular?

Yep. Black ink. I draw everything in pencil first and colour it with black ink. Mainly with Sakura pens as they are tough as fuck and the ink is really good. I can’t stand those rotring pens, they’re just a load of expensive messy shit. I do like painting too but i much prefer the meditation and time killing of drawing. I can happily spend hours and hours drawing away, but i get bored painting after ten minutes. Maybe beacuse I’m crap at it hahaha….

Your style is pretty crazy man, it’s so unique and whimsical, how did you come to possess such a style?

I have no idea. I just draw what I like and what comes out, usually some sort of figurative stuff. Preferably dark. Ive tried to draw happy things and it never works. I usually start with some random sketching and see what turns up.

Where do you or what do you draw inspiration from as an artist?

From the world I live in and the stuff I see and hear about, lifes experiences, and the darkness inside us all.

What’s been blasting through your headphones lately?

My ideal world is being able to draw all day and night drinking coffee and listening to music, which is what I was doing during my three month hiatus from work. If i could live that way I would be a happy man. I might even draw something nice for a change. Recently Ive been listening to a lot of doom, like Lord Vicar, St. Vitus and Yob. I’ve been overdosing on the Black Pyramid album too, I cant get enough of that band. Also a band from the UK called Moloch, who are brilliant. I urge you to check them out. I also love real Hip Hop like Non Phixion, Tribe, Jeru and Artifacts. Not that watered down pop shit from the radio. I do love a bit of dubstep too, especially good mixes and stuff…

Greatest accomplishment as an artist?

Every piece I finish without fucking it up is an accomplishment for me really. Ive never exhibited anywhere or anything. This interview is probably the best thing Ive done. Although Im sure I sound like a boring twat.

How would you say your style has progessed from when you first started seriously making art?

I was drawing odd stuff when I was five so the only real progression is from crayons to fine pens.

What’s in your pockets right now?

Three pounds and seventeen pence, a lighter, my wallet, my oyster card and train ticket, and some fluff.

What are your views/opinions on the World and Society today?

Crikey. Well, the rich get richer, the poor get nothing, and we watch war and disaster for entertainment on the television. Suffering is profit and amusement, everyone in the government is a liar and we fill our lives with pointless things we don’t need bought by money we don’t have. We can spend millions on arming ourselves but cant feed or clothe the poor of our rich nation. Everything is twisted. There are innocent people dying all over the world, but it’s ok beacuse X factor is on.

Name 5 things you couldn’t live without.

My gilrfriend.
My friends.
Music.
The Internet.
Melted cheese.

Advice to aspiring artists?

Learn Photoshop and Illustrator.

Any up coming projects that we should know about?

I would love to get my act together and have a small exhibition somewhere, with some decent artists to draw people in, and they could glance past my stuff on the way out.

Scott Says:

I’d just like to thank you for asking me to do this, and I hope I didn’t sound like a negative idiot.

Where can people follow what you’re up to and view your work?

You can check my myspace page or my blog. I write terrible explainations of my work there and general nonsense…
Isawnothing.blogspot.com

Also you can follow me on twitter if you like, and i can amaze you with my command and mastery of the English language! twitter.com/scottmove

Last words, shout outs?

Id like to thank Thslfe.com for asking me to do this, i really appreciate it. If I had anything awesome and profound to say I’d say it now, but I don’t. Just think of that famous quote from Ferris Beullers Day Off or something that Bill Hicks would have said.
